I guess I'm being thick about understanding this but here's WOL's explanation of what Wales need to do from their last two games:-

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/f...alify-13578062

It says in there that "Could they (Wales), as the statisticians suggest, still miss out on the play-offs even if they finish runners-up in Group D? One of the second-placed sides in the nine European groups will agonisingly not go into those play-offs".

So, if we get second place in the group...and then also qualify for a play-off as one of the 8 from the European Qualifiers......do we then get to play off against the other 7 European qualifiers or against runners-up from other worldwide groups?

If it's the European 8, how many of those runners-up will be in the draw for the finals in Russia - 4, 2 or just 1?
