The stunning start to the Championship season by Cardiff City and the impact made by Nathaniel Mendez-Laing have been recognised today with two awards.

Neil Warnock has won the August Manager of the Month prize with Mendez-Laing the players award for August.

“This is an achievement for all of us at the club", said Warnock. "From the top to the bottom. We’ve made some good signings and integrated them quickly into the group, which isn’t always easy.

“I’m delighted with the award – for the whole club and our fantastic fans.”

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing said: “It’s been a great first month of Championship football for me and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. It’s a plus to receive this award on behalf of all the lads following the month we’ve had. Obviously we want to maintain the form we’ve been in and kick on.”

Cardiff take their perfect record to Craven Cottage tomorrow to face Fulham.
