Pub grub in Cardiff on a Sunday evening

My lad starts at Cardiff Uni next Friday. We are going to Cardiff late Sunday afternoon and are going out for a pub meal with him in the evening...about 6pm ish.

Any suggestions for decent places to eat?

If you want casual surroundings, Bale's place 11, is getting good reviews.

Aint been there myself, but those that have, said good things about it, apart from the prices.

Expensive version of wetherspoons food wise. I'd avoid if if eating but it's decent enough for a pint.

The harvester by the Old 'A', you can pick your own salad starter without having to suffer some crappy cook plastering everything with Mayo, Sauces and all the other shite they seem to throw over anything you eat, then add your own if you actually like all that crap, the main meals are OK for the dough, and you can have a pint as well.

A massive meal at somewhere like the Flaming Grill in the Red Dragon Centre down the Bay will soak up some of the ungodly amount of alcohol that'll be entering his body later in the evening

If you fancy getting somewhere earlier the I suggest the Six Bells in Peterstone for a Sunday lunch, I can't recommend this place enough. The food is lovely.

Nope it's got to be early evening as I manage an under 15 football team and we have a game in Cheltenham on the Sunday afternoon.
