Thread: Scott Malone

    Re: Scott Malone

Let's replace a Brazilian international and the only fella that looks remotely committed to the cause with some bloke from Millwall that no-one has ever heard of.

    And call it progress!

Fabio is vastly overrated, cannot defend and little end products from his attacking forays. We need to cut our cloth and having spoken to a couple of Bournemouth fans, they were disappointed he left for Millwall. If he was good enough for them I'm ok with this signing and its sounds like he has cost 75k.

I hope he's going to be back up for Fabio, but I have a feeling the posters above are correct sadly

    Re: Scott Malone

Love Fabio, but like Declan, great going forward but defensively suspect, we have needed a decent left back for last 3-4 seasons.

We're becoming the opposite of a DJ side. DJ took players with potential but one or two obvious problems (commitment, attitude, pace, age etc.) and for a while the potential was usually maximised whilst problems covered for, now we're concentrating on more reliable players and selling off those with higher ceilings.

Scott Malone is younger and no doubt cheaper than Fabio mind. He might bring better balance to the defence also.

I hope it's the former or Slade will be creating the footballing version of porridge.

according to mill wall fans malones weakness is defending. so not sure why you think its an upgrade? probably just a cheaper player, seems to be what its all about these days.

Left Bournemouth in May 2012. He'd been on loan to them but had only signed permanent forms in the preceding January. Doesn't seem they saw him as too important to their plans and they haven't done too badly since without him have they.

Apparently the bid has been rejected

    Re: Scott Malone

It's obvious that Slade don't really want Fabio or Dec in the starting line up, so not surprised about this. Don't know much about Malone, though I bet his wages are a lot less than Fabios, which is another reason why the club will get rid of him.

    Re: Scott Malone

Difference is Declan john, Scott malone, and Fabio are all shit defenders but good going forward the difference is Malone will be on around 7,000 instead of fabio on 30,0000 a week good business in my opinion.

Unless Fabio has said he is going or an offer has come in for him.

If its anything other than that - then I think it's a mistake

Remember that bloke called Naylor - slow going forward and couldnt defend either.

Is Chris Barker still playing? Can we get him back?

Slade made a huge profit on him, and is likely to make a bigger one on Zohore.

According to reliable internet information we paid Millwall £450000 for Malone and sold him to Fulham in a straight swap for Jazz Richards. The notional market value quoted for this deal is £405000. Not a 'huge profit' but a loss and he was then sold on to Huddersfield for £3.51m, so perhaps Slade isn't quite as clever a manager as you indicate. Also under Slades (and Trollope's) watch Zohore didn't play and was farmed out on loan to Belgium, so he obviously didn't rate him and Warnock can take all the credit for making him the player he is now.
