    I'll go first.

Saint and Greavsie - both still alive.

I always thought Jimmy Greaves died about 20 years ago.
Before Sky started broadcasting, these two and their show were box office.
I know he had had his problems with the booze etc (pre the hit show) but didn't Greavsie have some kind of stroke which did for the show or was it just because of Sky?

They pioneered bringing the humour to the football show and would wager Saint and Greavsie had a big influence on Jeff Stelling's show.

I remember reading something years back that said when Sky came along, they were looking for a more professional, polished image for their 'brand' - which probably explains Jamie Carragher.

I remember Saint and Greavsie - wasn't old enough to know who they actually were but enjoyed the light hearted banter at a time where football was a serious business. As you say, I'm sure they've had a big influence on a lot of today's programming style.

Just googled and Greave's isn't in the best of health (stroke a few years back, confined to a wheelchair) but saint is still going strong and attending matches.

Didn't they used to play their home games on a Friday night because they got bigger attendances? (From avoiding a clash with Everton and Liverpool)

Or is that something else I've made up in my head and has become fact?
