Ireland's match stats v Mighty Moldova...

    Irish figures first:-

    Possession 43% - 57%
    Shots 14 - 10
    On target 3 - 3
    Corners 3 - 7
    Fouls 9 - 12

I know it's goals that count but 43% possession at home against the group minnows.....?

Nothing to fear for our boys methinks.

Just one niggling doubt....effing Shane Long.....always seems to do one against us

Game was done and dusted in first 20 mins so wouldn't read too much into it.

A draw on Monday is no good to Ireland so they're going to have to go all-out for the win at some point. Should make for an entertaining game, unless they score with their first attempt again and park the bus.

An Irish win with Callum O'Dowda scoring the winner would be everyone's favoured result!

I suppose it would benefit England if a higher ranked team than them, not to mention Euro 2016 semi-finalists, didn't make the World Cup.

Surely us as a set of fans know that possession stats can be meaningless.
Ireland had the most shots and the best chances.

    This.

Who in their right mind would register on another teams messageboard?

    Most shots - off target.
Best chances - leading to beating mighty Moldova by a single goal.

The score and performance give the context for those stats.

Shane Long hasn’t scored for 23 consecutive games for club and country.

Hopefully it will be 24 on Monday.
