Thread: Irish fans

  1. #1

    Irish fans

Over 10k fans with 3.5 tickets.

A number of Irish fans have been buying tickets for home section.
Authorities are warning they will not be allowed into the ground.

It has never been a problem anywhere in Europe. The Polish are mad about the Irish. Had a fantastic time there.
If there is one country that doesn't understand football violence its Ireland

This game is a Home sellout, so presumably they're paying over the odds via disreputable channels?

    Re: Irish fans

They've bought them from Welsh fans cashing in.

    Re: Irish fans

I'm looking forward to the craic tbh, I'm sure that even if some Irish get into the home end, I don't think it would cause a problem.

My biggest worry is how long it will take to get served in the pub!

    England on the other hand...

    Re: Irish fans

A word of warning to any Irish doing this. I've seen two people on FB selling their tickets (one a Man Yoo fan from North Wales) and they've both been reported to the FAW and Lucy Jones.

Those tickets need to be scanned to gain entry, so they can easily be blocked in advance.

I wouldn't risk the £200 and then find you can't get in anyway.

Yeh, that's them. Strange lot, but suppose making a few quid will always uppermost for some.

There's going to be a few disappointed. Its a shame for those that make a huge effort to make a game.

Do they generally support their local Irish clubs, or is it a national excuse for a piss-up like the eggball here?

Going through my deceased father's stuff recently and I came across a football programme from 1948, Waterford city vs Everton, a challenge match (friendly), he had kept it since his childhood, didn't know anything about it until last week.

    and Cardiff City too.

There's a huge difference between club and International football.
I remember being in leafy Whitchurch for England v Croatia 2007? 80% were glued to the game. The vast majority quite enthusiastic for an England win.

    Re: Irish fans

Waterford have produced many good footballers.

    Re: Irish fans

National excuse? 40k in Poland an excuse?

If we were given 25k tickets we would have sold them.

As they do Cardiff City. :)

When I say wanabee English, I mean the Donkeys posting earlier in this thread.

    Re: Irish fans

The Irish wont be a problem will they ? -
The Northern Irish will be a different kettle of fish.

How will the Old Bill Police it - to stop Irish fans getting in the home end - ask them to say something and check their accent, look for scarfs or shirts. If they have a valid ticket - then I dont see how how or why they can stop them.

That's not actually an argument against the point I'm making

Don't worry, just keeping you on your toes a bit. Hope the Irish fans enjoy themselves. I've always found them a friendly, likeable bunch

I watch whenever England are playing - if they win - so what - everyone expects that, if they lose - then it's funny.

I would pay good money for a McClaren Iceland moment every tournament.

    Re: Irish fans

On their forum they've said there were multiple arrests, IRA songs, and a guy standing on a bench outside Oneills with his kegs down pissing everywhere.

Wales not playing the match tonight in the Millenium stadium because Ireland would have more fans than them inside is embarrassing to hear

His little face, the way it falls.

For some extra fun, keep an eye on the guys in the background as the goal goes in. A very nice from the one on the right.

I see you are new to this forum
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I know that, but at the same time why would their own fans try to make out their fans are acting scummy.

They're talking about how a lot of bad eggs have joined their away following after it

    Re: Irish fans

Any Welsh fan found to have sold their ticket to the Irish should have a life ban from buying tickets for Wales games.

The most important game for decades in Wales and people are selling out ? For shame.

We had very shabby treatment regarding tickets when we went to Dublin from the Irish FA
and have given the Irish a better deal than they gave us despite us playing at a smaller stadium.

That's the problem with social media.

There was a time when the only audience potato heads like this would have had would be the rest of the pub.

Not the same thing at all, that’s just a few well meaning fans enjoying a spot of high jinx

Time for the Paddy & Murphy jokes. Here’s my effort.

Paddy on death row gets the choice to be shot, hung or injected with the aids virus. He says 'Give me that aids stuff'. They inject him and he starts rolling around the floor laughing. The warden asks 'what's so funny Paddy' to which Paddy replies 'I'm wearing a condom'
