Arrested for possibly being involved in the theft of over 17 grand. Terrifying old women in the post office. There is no "possibly" as the police know he did it from video footage.

    Goes into cell.

Before the door shuts "I'll have a tuna salad".

"Ok yes sir please let me go get it sir.

    JR's post

I can agree with this. They don't want pity though as you say JR cause they graft like feck. Highlight the sh*t conditions would be fine. Just maybe time n a half on the weekends and maybe double time on a bank holiday if that's not taking the piss too much.

In regards to the Custody suite they are full of cameras and microphones for protection.
Why rough up a suspect when it would then given opportunity for his defence to make merry at any forthcoming trial in front of a jury?
Treat people with the dignity that they haven't afforded others and you're more likely to get a positive result.

Fact is, there will always be excuse[s]. One bloke blamed not seeing his father, so presumably the others in this Country who haven't seen their father can go out and rob their local post office.

I'll save my sympathy for those who have a real impediment to success - illness, disability etc..
I'm not using any excuses or outside behaviour in regards to an individuals actions for their behaviour. People have to be responsible for their actions

My point is there are far less cops in South Wales Polce now then when I joined due to Tory cutbacks. They've quite clearly massaged the figures so they can say their strategy is working when quite frankly it's utter bollocks.

The Probation service as stated is a farce.

So yes the Tories are responsible for this deterioration.

Out of interest when did you join and leave the force?

I always found it to business like. Never been treated badly. The guy/girl speaking to you is doing his/her job. The support staff are different to the Police. Being interviewed is different from the folk that are there just to keep the show on the road. Guy's making the most noise would usually get less good attention. Banging feck out of a cell door just fecks everyone off. You might get some slippers, even the odd extra hot chocolate,But usually just feck all and someone sat outside you're cell peeping in at you more. Waking you up more. You know you have fecked up. Most people in there can't wait to get out. Loads o time to reflect usually. Its best not repeated.

The Christmas before I left I made the decision as I was fed up working nights, cancelled rest days, the pension hand changed so instead of going at 55 I'd have had to work another 5 years on top. I remember thinking I didn't want to be in the job in my 50s as I didn't want to be counting down the days to retire.

Tough decision as I gave up a lot, Miss the camaraderie but I'm self employed and loving it these days 👍👍

I recently spoke to someone who appeared on Dragon's Den and he was primed with raising the financial stake he required and most of the exchanges with the Dragons were cut and made him look very stupid. (Having had many discussions with him I suspected as much when I saw the recording).
And don't start me on the 'nodding donkey shots' that are all pervasive and the 'talking heads' programmes where low level celebs are paid to proffer opinions on footage and TV clips that they were only recently spoon-fed whilst pretending they were familiar with the material when it came out decades previously (when some of them were still in nappies).
The one exception is 'Question Time' which is hardly touched (if at all) in the editing studio. Rushing home from the recordings on a couple of occasions it was not evident if any editing had cut anything whatsoever.

That went way beyond treating them with dignity to be fair.

It's why i believe that the people of the Valleys voted for Brexit, for 30 years they have been left behind and when an option presented itself to say FU to the establishment they took it.

A customer of mine told me that 'they are stupid these valley folks' 'look how many bridges and roads have been built or improved using EU money' 'They are shooting themselves in the foot' I couldn't answer her properly cause I think she completely missed the point.

The "decline of community spirit in the valleys" began with the closing of the pits, which started well before Mrs thatcher came to power.

    Hmmm...

Taff Merthyr, Treharris Deep Navigation and Merthyr Vale Colliery. All Merthyr pits closed by that rancid cow Thatcher.

On the plus side. She's as dead as the pits.

The editing of this programme once again shows Merthyr and particualy the Gurnos once again in a bad light. There are far worse places to live in South Wales than the Gurnos Estate.

The worst to come out of it are the police though - what a joke. Hes robbed a Post Office and the local copper doesnt want him sent down.

There are worst places to live than the Gurnos in Merthyr itself!!!

I’d rather live in the Gurnos than Swansea Road or Merthyr Vale.

Take my word for it too. Thatcher split communities and families in 1984 with her approach to the miner's strike. She decimated them further by overseeing the closure of the pits. It's debatable if that was an act of spite or not, I have my own suspicions. She then made things even worse by massaging the unemployment figures and putting people on the sick. These people are now ostracized by Joe Public and Theresa May. They are then thrown into a goldfish bowl for people to watch in glorious UHD - this solves nothing and only makes stereotyping easier. I was a schoolkid in the 80s, one text book three kids, many of us having free school dinners (our only meal), and many of us growing up in a household where both parents weren't working for long spells. My old man was out of work for two years in the mid 80s, and some of my earliest memories were waiting outside the job centre with him before it opened, and his sheer optimism and balls of steel as he took knock back after knock back. The Tories of today would portray our household for those two years as a disgusting statistic, and would fuel the Daily Mail headline writers with stories of scroungers and the welfare state. Thatcher may well have improved the country, and made Britain "great" again, but we didn't feel it and nor did many of my school mates. I remember scrounging crisps off mates, and mates scrounging crisps off me.

The thing is, there is still a strong sense of community in the valleys, moreso than Cardiff. Of course, there are bad people in the Valleys. Tell me somewhere where there are not bad people? The Valleys seem to be the 21st Century joke that Liverpool of the 1980s was. Truth is, the area has been crying out for investment since the 70s, and it has been let down by Tories and Blairites alike.

Did she suffer? The evilest and most manipulative leader the UK has seen, the Tories have evolved into an entity that seeks power with low regard for public service. Watching Theresa May croak her way and blunder her way through anything and everything with her crooked smile (done by Nick Park) is pure comedy. Corbyn won me over last year, and Socialism cannot come quickly enough. Let's start making some of these gits pay their way.
