    Liberty Stadium ...

Why doesn't Swansea council approve plans to increase capacity from 20,700?

    20,657 attendance yesterday ...

    Infrastructure issues?

Thought they would've expanded by now, easily get 30k for the big games

    I thought it was built
    With expansion in mind -

Cos they know it’s only a matter of time before they come back down and they’ll only need 13/14k

We have a few seats that can be sent down west.

When they tumble back down the leagues they will be looking for an even smaller ground

    Re: Liberty Stadium ...

Probably because Swansea expect the council to foot the bill for the building work

I'm surprised the Ospreys don't fund it. Rugby is supposed to be the most popular sport in Wales, so they'd fill a 30k stadium every time.

I’m guessing it’s because attendance revenue is a small part of total revenue these days thanks to the massive TV deals.

Big job and they don't own the stadium. It's either money for the team or money for the stadium.

Problem is your always one bad year away from going down unless you are one of the top 6 or 7

It will never happen as they always seem to be on the brink of going down, very close last season and they have a far worse team this year. Going to be a tough old season for them I reckon. Could easily see them passing through our league straight back to there natural level

Especially if it gets me out of doing the washing up. They play them back 2 back still? I simply tell her it's the same one every time she pop's her head in. She wont know any different.

    Plans were submitted in April.

On a serious note the club and Swansea Council are close to agreeing a 40 year lease deal. The club will take over all finacial obligations and become the rugger team's landlords. Perhaps they will kick them into touch as they dont need a stadium bigger than 5k.
Once the deal is done the football club will be able to proceed further with their plans to increase capacity by around 5/6 thousand.

I can see the logic there. At PL level, attendance revenue is such a small percentage, that it might even be a close call between extra seats and the extra cost of policing and stewarding.

Of course that is assuming they have no plans to leave the PL
