Exactly right. One of those defeats came at Trashton Gate too.

What is interesting is that we were top scorers in the division at that point in the season 5 years ago. We'd scored 11 more goals and conceded 10 more than we have this season.

The 15th game of our Championship winning season probably holds the secret to our promotion. We lost 5-4 at Charlton, throwing away a 2 goal lead by conceding 5 goals in 26 minutes. Following that game Malky was highly critical of our defence and said that we need to stop conceding as many to have a chance of winning promotion (23 in 16 games was hardly great). After the Charlton game we won 12 of the next 16 - our only defeat was a predictable one to bottom of the table Peterborough, which ended our 100% home record.

During those 16 games we only conceded 9 goals. Interestingly, of those 12 wins, 11 were by a single goal. Pretty football it wasn't at times, but it was effective. Our defensive discipline was matched by being less effective at the other end. That run won us the title. We won 4 of our last 15 games.
