Just shows how much Stokes will be missed. Strange take on things I agree.

Would Stokes be missed for his bowling? Probably not.

Yes I think he would. Thats what being an all rounder is about, not the strike bowler but part of an attack and a destructive batsman

For me, Stokes is very much of a "oh, bring him on to give other pacers a rest" bowler. Someone who will produce a great spell every now and then but not consistently. He's very much in the side for the batting.

Bowling wise, England will miss Finn more than Stokes.

    Plus he's a grade A bellend.

this might answer if we will miss him or not

He is an near to Beefy as any one will get as an all rounder ,in my view, bell end or not, so was Beefy by the way .

With the top order looking decidedly fragile, I worry the middle order will be exposed too soon and missing Stokes is going to be a big loss. Root is going to have a massive job on his hands

I'd be surprised if they don't play an extra batsman to replace Stokes.

    Did well in Australia before.

Stokes is a massive loss for his all round ability.
Overton has been selected for his bowling. I think selectors see him as similar to Tremlett who had a great tour in Australia a few years ago.
Poor squad selection though. Plunkett should be there as a genuine pace bowler rather than more of the same type with Jake Ball.
Root has to take responsibility for the selection of Gary Ballance.
I was going to get BT Sport for the Ashes but its not going to be worth it with this squad.

As far as Stokes is concerned the ceiling knows no bounds, but his issue will always be blowing hot/cold; MOTM performances followed by a string of OK. Last few days have shown how important Woakes and his workload will be. As for the middle order YJB/Moeen/Woakes still looks really solid.

Seeing the news about the Aussie team for next week and they're in just as much disarray as we are; dropping the younger lads for a bloke who last hit a century 11 years ago AND keeping at the same time. Hahaha.
