    The guy is a lunatic, but what will come after (if he is indeed being overthrown) may be much of the same. Not quite up there with Pol Pot, but among one of the tyrants of the post WW2 era; totally ruined Zimbabwe.

    It is a coup alright.
    He is not the target though, as he's more or less finished already at 93. His wife Grace was being manouvered into power / grabbing power, but shes erratic and unpopular, and this has probably allowed a coup to coalesce around Emmerson Mnangagwa, so this is very much a power struggle within zanu pf.
    Emmerson Mnangagwa is apparent;y a nasty piece of work, possibly even more ruthless that Mugabe - and said on the radio yesterday that he was responsible for a genocide in the 80s.
    I don't think either way it is good news for Zimbabwe
