Sunderland are one of the biggest clubs in British football.
Who should he have gone to? Man U

Giggs has a 2 yr consultancy deal with Vietnam. Would be a conflict of interest.

    Relegation beckons for Sunderland

Please please don’t let Giggs get the Wales job

Sunderland clearly looked at the success of Wales and decided he must be a great man manager due to that.

Ignoring the hard work Speed put in before, ignoring Bale, Rambo, Allen and Williams et al.

Coleman went to Sunderland for two reasons only. Money and the fact it's a toxic club - go down, it's not his fault, which appears to be something throughout his managerial career.

Fulham? Players were sold. Real Sociedad? Different vision from new President. Coventry? Probably would have been the players refusing to play his free flowing style and reverting to hoofball. AEL? Club had financial troubles.

Wales? Had that big moment, then a disappointing comedown where valuable points were dropped due to not closing out games and a single game playoff vs Ireland where he simply got things utterly wrong. No doubt the reason for leaving will be "taken as far as I can" or some other pithy cliche.

It seems a constant is that when the going gets tough, he's either quit or been fired. In fairness, surprised he didn't quit after disastrous start he had.

Maybe WBA, if they sack Pulis in the next couple of weeks.

    It's all a grand plan.

Coleman goes there on a nice little contract, they get relegated, pay him off millions when they sack him, then he comes back next August for the EURO qualifiers.

    Simples.

    Potentially they’re a massive club.

At the moment they’re a badly run club on the slide.

Which is why every man and his dog has turned them down.

Or any other club that will inevitably be looking for a new manager in the next few months.

Plenty of clubs have been looking for managers since the season started and he hasn’t had a sniff.

Maybe that’s why he’s had to take such a shit job

I don't agree. The FAW made two good appointments in Speed and Coleman. There was a time when the Coleman appointment looked awful, I remember calling for his head after a thrashing in Serbia. Let's not over-react. Two and a half campaigns, and Wales are healthier than they have been.

I just hope it's not Giggs. And I hope they don't appoint a Welshman purely because it's a Welshman.
