Died today of cancer. It only seems like yesterday when she won Wimbledon, but it's nineteen years ago - surprised she was as old as forty nine.
Her serve/volley game was becoming old fashioned during her career, but tennis lost something when this attacking way of playing the game all but disappeared.
RIP.

She was a very popular winner of Wimbledon (her only grand slam win), especially after being a losing finalist and breaking her heart when talking to the Duchess of Kent about a decade earlier.
I liked her style as she went against the grain of the powerful baseliners.
Can't believe it was 19 years ago she won it mind.... that is scary!
Again, sad news.
Cancer is a right bitch!
Hopefully it will go the way of polio and smallpox in a few decades.
