Evenly poised, good game. Smith to the rescue for Australia. I'd suggest they've slightly got their noses in front but if we get a few early then we'd feel ahead.

As per above, fascinating two days so far on what is an incredibly unconventional Gabba pitch. Root's captaincy so far has been spot on. Key will be that first hour and getting Smith/Marsh.

Would still take a draw in a heartbeat

Need to remove these two ASAP. As it stands nicely poised but give the Aussie team a lead and it's probably all over.
Fully intend to stay awake tonight and have ordered in the high energy drinks. Is diabetes a fair swap for a handful of wickets?

Draw would be a good result, and it might rain to help out. The Gabba has been an absolute graveyard for us recently so getting anything here would be a massive positive going to the WACA next.

2010/11 Cook/Trott/Strauss dug us out of a massive hole. As for this pitch I don't think the Aussies would like chasing more than 200 or so on it. Long way to go, like

Yep the first hour is crucial. Two quick wickets and Aus are on the back foot. If Smith and Marsh stick it out they could end up with a useful lead. From a Glammy perspective it’s good to see Marsh in the runs.

Yep a bit of a collapse from a strong position. Still evenly poised

Have you tried cocaine? Should be fine with diabetes.

I can’t help but feel Aus have missed a trick with such a slow wicket at the Gabba. It certainly wont be slow when they play in Perth

yeah I'm sure i heard on SSN just now its been something like 30 years since we won at the Gabba
slow is one word that doesn't describe the Perth wicket mate

    Re: The Ashes

    Missed all of 2nd day's play, sounded a cracker to-ing and fro-ing.
Watched highlights earlier and England were looking good but losing 6 wickets for 50-odd (was it?) Got the Aussies right back in it.

Some top bowling by England had 'em on the ropes and had Smith been caught, as he ought to have been (Swanny commentating ridiculing the outfielders with shin pads on! ) whilst on 32 it could have been a totally different ball game.

As it stands, with the number 1 batsman in the world unbeaten on 80, advantage Aussies.

Top contest up to now, just hope I can last more than a session tonight!

    Nodded off!
I'd say the game is in the balance now but Eng need Smith early to seize the initiative.
When I awake I fully expect Eng to be batting, if not they are in trouble!
i.e. failed again I'm off to bed

Going to be close this one.
    Proper test cricket.

    Re: The Ashes

That 42 from Cummings could be the difference between a lead and a deficit.

None of the England tail end got anywhere near 40

    Re: The Ashes

Aus 328 all out lead by 26 Smith 141 N.O.
all to play for this is going all the way
