He didnt "just score in the knock out stages" though did he? He scored over 40 goals last season, won the league, the champions league, and scored 10, yes TEN goals, in the Quarter final to Final of the most prestigous tournament in club football. Thats an unbelievable feat even by Ronaldo and Messi standards.

Messi may have scored over 10 or 11 goals more but none of them were anywhere near as important as the ones Ronaldo scored and thats a FACT.

I'm not one for stats as you know but if someone is gonna plug the stat about Ronaldo scoring a consolation goal vs Tottenham, a goal after he missed a penalty and goals when Madrid were 4-0 up against Nicosia then I'm gonna respond.

In my opinion Messi has completely carried Barcelona and Argentina in the last 18 months since the departures and decline of Xavi, Puyol, Iniesta, Suarez and Neymar.

I don't believe there is any single player who is as important to his teams fortunes as Messi is for country and especially club.

Marcelo is a fantastic player for his position dont get me wrong but Ronaldo is the match winner mate. He was the match winner in all the important matches last season its impossible IMO to argue against him winning.
