FT READING 2 - 2 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread

The Bluebirds are in Championship action tonight from the Madejski Stadium

C:WindowsTempphpE780.tmpReading boss Jaap Stam must decide whether to change a winning side at home to Cardiff on Monday night, with live coverage on Sky Sports Football from 7.30pm.

Stam kept faith with the same XI for a third consecutive game in the victory at Sunderland, which followed up their 3-0 win at home to Barnsley.

John Swift continues treatment on the midfielder's hamstring injury while midfielders George Evans (thigh) and Garath McCleary (groin) are stepping up their recovery.

Callum Harriott (hamstring), Stephen Quinn and Joseph Mendes (both knee) also continue their rehabilitation, while defender Jordan Obita is out for the season after surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament.

Meanwhile, Cardiff - who are enjoying a four-game wining run - will be without Kenneth Zohore until the new year, who has not played for two months.

Cardiff only recently identified the problem with the Danish striker, leading to car tissue being removed from an ankle.

Aron Gunnarsson (ankle) and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (leg) will be assessed before the trip to Berkshire.

Kadeem Harris is edging closer to rejoining the squad after being sidelined following summer surgery.

    Match facts

    • Neil Warnock has lost more Football League games (excluding play-offs) against Reading than any other side (16).

    • Yann Kermorgant has had a hand in four goals in his past five league matches against Cardiff (three goals, one assist), scoring in both matches against them last season.

    • Cardiff are yet to drop a single point in Championship matches when they've gone ahead this season, winning all 13 of the matches in which they've taken the lead.

    • In his last 15 league matches this season, Modou Barrow has had a hand in seven goals (five goals, two assists) - as many as he managed in his previous 66 combined.

    • The Bluebirds have conceded fewer goals than any other Championship side this season (14) - after 20 matches last season, they had conceded 31 goals.

Cardiff complete the Championship fixtures this weekend when they face Reading at The Madejski on Monday evening.

Because of Saturday's results Cardiff could close the gap on Wolves to just 2 points while extending the lead over 3rd place to six points. Even if the worst happens Cardiff would still be clear in second place.

Here are the results and table as of Saturday eveing:

6 points clear would be golden at the moment.
Would like us and Barca to be clear of the playoff pack by the new year.

I'd be really surprised if we got much from this game and would be happy with a draw right now, as Reading seem to have come into some form.

A lot will depend on whether Omar and Danny can continue their goal-scoring form. I'd expect Omar to start.

Villa and wolves dropped points against battling teams.

Reading ain't no mugs. I'll go 1-1 Bogle.

We are a striker short so he may very well come on at some point.

We look pk in defence and up top, but a bit light in mf and on the bench. What the heck has happened with Gunnar. Not sure we will see him play again.

Heard they were looking at this game for him a few weeks back. Not sure what's changed.

Move over Adam Walton. You have a huge knowledge of Welsh Music and that is to your credit but clear the airways now for the City. C'mon Bloobirds.

1-1 (don't like the green/blue kit combo, looks like we looked to see what kit we had hanging around and threw the thing together)

Wasn't expecting Reading to be this lively. But still, I can't believe we conceded such a soft goal.

    Down already.
If Warnock does not substitute Manga we will lose this convincingly.
Reading are attacking down the left through Barrow who has the beating of Manga every time.
    Just like Norwich last week....

Shouldn't that have been a straight red?
