    Declan John - in demand

There have been a load of stories in recent days that claim Declan is wanted on a permanent deal by Rangers, Leeds and Reading. Including these:

    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/f...ition-11686388

    https://throughitalltogether.sbnatio...ohn-rangers-fc

    http://www.insidefutbol.com/2017/12/...-chase/359577/

    http://the72.co.uk/94488/news-readin...n-cardiff-ace/

    http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/f...chase-14027701

    https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/th...n-the-verdict/

I suppose it could all be one story planted by Declan's agent that has been cut and pasted across a load of sites and blogs, but it has the feel of a story with legs.

I assume that the 'season long loan' to Rangers can be brought to an end in January if Rangers or Leeds or Reading or any other club want to make an offer of a permanent move? It sounds as if the club might also pocket a fee (if the move is to the Championship).

Interesting what happens when a player gets a run of games and TV coverage.

He's still not a defender. OK if you're only interested in going forward (at which I think he's decent enough)

He'll move. Rangers are skint and wages wouldn't be great.

There's also the fact they are a bunch of bigoted b#######. ;)

I thought this might be about him appearing in PANTO.

We need to keep Declan. I rate Bennett but Declan has the potential to be outstanding

Exactly the same as Celtic FC !! and you can add racist, terrorist supporting manky scum bags to the list.

Celtic FC are probably the most hated team in Europe at the moment absolute poison!

I still do not really feel we have seen the best from him, or seen enough of him to even formulate an opinion. The last time I remember him having a run of games was when we were in the premier league and he seemed to hold his own against the worlds best?

Don't be silly. Celtic fans are very political. Whether you agree with with them or not
They have ties with Barca, St Pauli, PSV, Atletico Bilbao, Atalanta etc etc.
They are probably the least racist club in the UK.
If you're going to slag Cetic , try and do a bit of research.
Many Rangers fans are far-right racist thugs. Try Google, it can be useful.
    They are linked to Chelsea.
Pull your jeans up from ya ankles and cop on.

He didn't really "hold his own" against the world's best though. Often he was given a difficult time.
With all that money we spent on new players going into the Premier league, it was something of a surprise to see our hopes pinned on a young, inexperienced, left-back.

Still waiting to hear if you actually believe this. Declan is slow, lacking a decent cross and is positionally awful.

I wouldn’t spare a second thought if he wasn’t welsh

Not sure if anyone else on here is bothered, but I’m not happy at the likes of you and Protex Blue using this CCFC board as a platform to spout your old firm bigoted shite. If Rangers and Celtic disappeared tomorrow the footballing world would be a better place.

Rangers wooing our Declan with a programme feature...

    https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines...ohn-exclusive/

If Declan has the choice between Rangers and championship clubs (including us), I feel he should definitely stay with Rangers. Better for him to be a bigger fish in the lesser SPL. They seem to like him there and many fans want him to displace captain Lee Wallace when he returns from injury. He must play games over the next two years. Some of those champ clubs will be speculating on him, mainly for the fact that his contract is running down (and he's a left footed, left back), so his stock will be higher than it ought to be in Jan.

Yes. He's a great prospect and he's far from slow.

Declan John has revealed that he would rather operate as a left winger than a left-back...

    http://www.insidefutbol.com/2017/12/...change/360231/

Rangers full-back Declan John has revealed that he would rather operate as a left winger than a left-back as he feels it suits his game more.

The Wales international has been in fine form for the Light Blues, who snapped him up from Cardiff City on a season-long loan deal last summer.

Besides providing stability to Rangers’ defence, John has scored twice and set up two more goals in 14 appearances in all competitions in the present campaign.

And John, who explained that he has experience of playing further forward, believes he is best suited to playing as a winger.

“Yes, a couple of times”, he told Rangers TV, when asked if he has ever played further forward.

“To be fair, I would probably rather play on the wing.

“I mean it does give me a chance to get forward more and that is my game at the end of the day.”

Rangers have been playing in a diamond formation in recent games and John thinks the new system is working well for him.

When asked if he thinks playing in the diamond system is giving him more freedom, John replied: “Yes, I think it does in a way.

“Obviously I can’t go bombing on so much, but when the ball is switched over, I get a lot more space to work in.

“I think it has worked for us well.”

John, who is a product of Cardiff City’s youth system, has previously had loan spells at Barnsley and Chesterfield.

The 22-year-old’s present contract with the Welsh club is set to expire next summer, with Championship outfits Leeds United and Reading interested in signing him in January.
