    Re: Joe Strummer

Deserves to be considered as one of the most influential musicians of his generation imho. The work his foundation had done since his passing is impressive. Even more impressive is that he survived living in Newport for an extended period.

Just played White Man on full volume.

I’m hugely biased but his (and The Clash’s) influence on the majority of music I’ve listened to and loved for the last 40 years is unsurpassable.

He may (as many others ) have been influenced by Woody Guthrie, but his legacy for me is more powerful.

About 20 years ago I lived in Monmouth and one afternoon went into the Robin Hood Pub and Joe Strummer and Shane MacGowan were having a break from recording at Rockfield Studios and were on the piss, some afternoon that was.
