    Warnock wants to work on

Do we need to be asking about contracts though? We got four games in the next 10 days. Let's focus on them.

Neil Warnock has confirmed that he wants to remain in management beyond the 2017-18 campaign.

But the veteran boss admits that he is in no rush to put pen to paper on a new deal with Cardiff City, despite the fact his current contract with the club expires in the summer.

The Yorkshireman signed a one-year contract extension with the Bluebirds in February this year, although he has previously hinted that if the Bluebirds were to gain promotion into the promised land of the Premier League this term, that would not necessarily persuade him to stay .

But speaking ahead of his side's clash with Championship strugglers Bolton at the Macron Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Warnock revealed that he would happy stay in South Wales for another year if the terms were right.

"I’ll definitely be working next year," said the Cardiff boss.

"I've made up my mind that I’d like another season.

"I’m sure I’ll be speaking to Mehmet (Dalman) over the next few days and weeks regarding that. But I’m not in a rush. I wouldn't dream of leaving Mehmet and the club midway through the season.

"If the climate was right I would consider signing another year. But I will be working next year providing my health is okay.

"The problem when you are out of contract in the summer is that if you want to sign a player they usually want to know if the manager is going to be there.

"So if I’m only going to be there a few months it could be difficult trying to sign him.

"Most managers - younger managers especially - would want to sign a longer contract. But I’ll be there this season and we are talking.

"Mehmet’s coming over for an extended stay and he’s always speaking to Vincent (Tan) and Ken (Choo). It’s so busy at the moment and it’s probably not a priority, but we’ll probably have a chat in the New Year."

Warnock is gunning for a record eighth promotion of his career with the Bluebirds.

And in the aftermath of Cardiff's 1-0 win over Hull City last weekend, chairman Dalman revealed the club are keen for Warnock to extend his stay beyond the current campaign.

"If Neil wants to stay, we will be happy, if he wants to go, we are here to talk him out of it," said Dalman.

"Where is Neil going to go?

"Talks on a new contract are none of (the media's) business, but of course we want him to stay.

"We are enjoying our football; this season has been quite spectacular.

"We've just enjoyed, as it happens, doing better than we planned.

"We came into the season ambitious, the manager had a plan and he's made some good calls.

"We aren't thinking about promotion, we are realistic, there is a long way to go, when Neil gets excited, I will get excited."

Doesn't he love the Championship, but hate the Prem League?

If so, I suspect he'll only stay with us if we don't go up - he'll see it as 'unfinished business'.

I think he will stay with us for another season whatever league we,re in. He wants another promotion if we don’t get up this year and he’d give it a go in the Premiership just to see if he can hack it?

We didn’t expect we’d go up before the season and he’s put us in this position.
If we falter now and don’t go up I still hope he stays.

If we go up I’m sure he will have another crack.

He addressed this in an interview on iFollow. He said he's been misquoted. He clarified by saying that he didn't hate the Premier League, just that he hated his experience while he was in it. He's not against managing in the Premier League.

He'd love another crack at the premiership but the good thing is whatever happens I'm 100% confident he'll be here next season which I'm happy with
