How much have you spent this year?

    On Christmas?
    Presents/food/booze/travel/decorations?

Just bought the last of my stuff and I’ve probably spent about £750 this year.

    Jeez that’s quite a bit.
I haven’t got children yet so that’s helped the bank balance.

£300 on each of the two kids, about £150 on the wife. Don't see the point in going overboard, grew up watching my parents struggle with debt and I refuse to do down the same path.

I’m not entirely happy about it tbh. My missus has just gone stupid this Xmas and smashed our budget. We always spend 500 each kid but for some reason she’s nearly doubled that.

Spent 500 on my daughter. Probably take her to get some clothes in the new year too.

Ain't gone nuts on food as I'll be at my sister's tomorrow and then there's only really boxing day to go..the extra on food is for the niece's and nephews and visitors..don't drink in the house really so not bought booze.

Had 2 nights out so far costing 200 quid.

New year's day will be my next venture out now as my daughter is here for a few days brim boxing day, maybe the odd pint later on and tomorrow before dinner.

We spent very little on my daughter this year. She's only 4 and has way too much crap already. Her Grandmother has been giving her random gifts up until last week FFS. So maybe $250 on her. My Mrs and I aren't giving each other gifts. I hosted a family party last week, that was probably $300. Taking my in laws out to dinner on Boxing Day, probably another $300 and a couple of Ubers home last week at about $60 a pop took the Mrs out to dinner last night, $200. I'm about to go out and buy the booze now, I'll probably spend about $200 there. And pick up some cash for my nephews 2 x $100.

About $1600. Actually way more than I thought. And I'm sure I've left a few things out. Oh well, none of it was on credit cards so that's something.

My missus has been out of work for a couple of years due to illness so things are tight, still ended up going overboard £150 x 3 kids and about another £500 on other stuff + a night out for £100. Good job I always have a quiet (dry) January anyway.

about £450 for each of the girls, my oldest didnt want anything, said " I dont need anything dad, just spend it on paying the Vet bill for Skye " ( our Dog Skye had cancer, ultimately then had her leg removed, cost just over 8500 in total thus no disney holiday this year )

Spent about £200 on the wife

About £100 on other family members

about £400 on food ( no drink as i had it in the house from the end of the summer )

    so about £1600

add to that 4 tickets ( about £400 ) for Ed Sheeran tickets for next year, which the girls wanted to go to, i said i couldnt get them, so it'll be a surprise

Yea, we were going to have a late cheapo flight, as we own " disney vacation club " ( disney timeshare ) but the dog came first, ironically in the end we had to remove her leg

Dont worry though, making up for it next year we hope

180 days before your arrival yes some of them need to be booked up on that same day, in the first few hours of the lines opening ( one will be booked up in the first 1 hour )

Daughter has got pretty much all she can have, they accumulate a lot over birthdays and Xmas with 2 parents living apart. Been there when I've spent a shed load and also been there when I've spent 100 quid on her, all depending on her age and financial situation.

For the last 5 years or so I have agreed with my partner (coming up to 33 years in sin!) we will spend no more than £50 on each other.

We also agree a £20 each cap with my brother and his partner.

We still end up with a lot of low cost presents to open at Christmas, but we have to put a bit more thought into it if they are going to be appreciated. It's amazing how inventive you can be if you can't just splash the cash.

(No caps for other friends' or family presents - yet)

Just done ours, We were convinced we didnt have enough, fook me, we have had to move the sofa to fit then around the tree ( though my mum is down this year, as my brother has said she couldnt go to his as he is having building work done, ( dont start me on that though ) and she had 2 bin bags of gifts, 90% of them will be pointless and end up in the charity shop, she never learns and always buys stuff she thinks we would like, last year got my youngest a " frozen loom band kit " it was 3 years out of date, we always smile and thank her though )

youngest daughters Bike looks great though, very impressed with it, well chuffed with that buy

we started to buy the first week of Nov ( when we normally come home from Disney ) means we can spread it out over the 2 months

Tell myself every year I'll save a little each month. Never do.

In all fairness buying for the one isn't really too much of a struggle, I don't tend to buy for the rest of the family it's just kind of evolved to that over time and none of us know why.

And people complain they are hard up or they are going into massive debt. This thread sounds as though we have never had it so good.

It’s all rather obscene isn’t it.

I’ve spent nothing extra on food, why are people so greedy? Ive bought no alcohol whatsoever. Drinking is for pubs and socialising only. Think of your bodies and health everyone.

No kids so no money spent there.

    Merry bloody Christmas
