Couldn't have been their original target as he was still in a job when they sacked Clement. It's an appointment that smacks of desperation, made by people not in tune with the game. I wonder whether they were forced to employ him because the likes of Bilic, de Boer, Koeman, Pulis, Giggs and Monk didn't fancy the job, as all they see is a club on the slide?
