Is this just a poor run or something more significant?

Because I get to see a limited amount of games I cannot comment but would be interested in the thoughts of those who attend regularly.
Is what we are seeing just one of those runs that all teams should expect to see or have the team and tactics been worked out and our limitations are being exposed?
If the latter, what kind of business do we need to do in the transfer window to get back on track?

Earlier in the season there were regular threads on here after games discussing who the MoM was and it was often hard to choose as three were usually four, five or six players who could stake a claim, as the points were being won by excellent team performances. Last night it was hard to pick one. I think it’s a combination of injuries to important players and a collective loss of form / confidence. I’m just glad that we have Neil Warnock in charge, I’ve got every confidence he can get us through this bad patch.

Etheridge and the defence looked like they had never played together before.
Yes, NW was forced to shuffle around due to Bennett and Morrison injuries, Peltier looking particularly lost at LB and Patterson like a bull at a gate, but as a unit there seemed no communication whatsoever last night.
There must have been half a dozen times before they scored that the we were playing pinball in our box. Etheridge didn't know whether to have a shit, shower or haircut on crosses or set pieces.
As a result of our confusion the ball was hacked away time and again over the heads of our midfield and gave their very effective midfield the opportunities to shine.
If they had any decent finishers the score could have been a lot worse.

I did think that with Tan being there to see these poor performances that it might work in favour cum January but unless NW can demonstrate to him why this apparent total capitulation is happening, the boss may think twice about putting up the money to try for promotion.

IMO, we have over achieved in the 1st half of the season and are limited in depth in key one or two positions.
As has been said before, it seems Morrison is key.

I think that teams have worked out that squeezing our wide players higher up the pitch nullifies our attacking options massively. We're not creative in midfield, and play with one man up front who hasn't even got an advanced midfield player who can link up, that hasn't happened all season, the only player to do that has been Hoilett, and that seems to have been cancelled out. Mendez can only play one way, and if that fails, he still persists in playing that way. A bad run is an inconvenience, but not so bad when there are glimpses of quality, at the moment that isn't the case. Warnock needs to rethink a few things before the QPR game.

It's a strange one. The last two home games we have looked so disjointed as a team, the fluidity of our play has gone and we can barely seem to string two passes together.

Because of this we haven't really been able to give our attackers great service (God knows it's not like we've been missing chances) and some of them look like they need a break like Mendez Laing.

The obvious solution was to bring Tomlin in but even that didn't work last night. I've seen some people say we need a ball winning midfielder but to be honest I think we need passer in there. We've got plenty of possession but continually waste it at the moment.

My view all along is that we the team is quite flawed in many areas and that we look like the away team even when we play at home. We managed terrifically well because many teams in this division seem to be less than deadly up front and that we have a few individuals who can quickly break and finish well. Unfortunately, when these flashes don't transpire and while our passing game is so atrocious I always thought that we were on thin ice.
I would have been happy to see us end up in the play-off places at the end of the season but we do really need a passing game. Fulham seem to be the exact opposite of us: a wonderful passing game with plenty of movement but without the killer touch.

“apparent total capitulation” bloody hell, we’ve lost three games

We should cut Peltier some slack. Anyone who has played the game knows how hard it is to play left back when you normally play right back. Do we have any other left backs at the club?

Not at first team level after Feltscher left. Can't even drop Ralls back there temporarily due to a lack of fit midfielders.

We've a small squad, large injury list and had to bin virtually all the DVP squad due to not being good enough.

We've no specialist cover at left back or defensive midfield. This needs to be addressed in January. We should have signed Ledley when we had the chance. it would have strengthened us and weakened Derby.

We do need to bounce back pretty quickly - Bristol City were in contention last season and dropped like a stone once the rot set in. I think Warnock will have the nous to stop that from happening but the warning signs should be heeded

I think we'll make the playoffs. We all knew we weren't going to last in the top two. We just don't have the squad for it.

We've got a massive injury list, there's very little real quality in the team but I think they and Warnock have done a great job so far. It's been especially disappointing losing three on the trot over Christmas. But I think Warnock will sort it out. We'll see.

Apparent to Tan not me.... he will only have seen the very worst of us.

    Could be worse.

    We could be Swansea.

The jacks have just begun their annual miracle escape. Was looking at our team that destroyed Leeds earlier in the season, wasn’t so different from last night, just plain weird. Still, we are Cardiff fans, naturally pessemistic, have had everything thrown our way over the years. Reckon it’s why we don’t have such good crowds, we know what’s coming already.....
