Thread: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing

    Nathaniel Mendez-Laing

Five goals in his first five appearances for the club then none in his next 19. How do you explain that?

He did have a run of six goals in 10 last season, so I guess it’s confidence?

Not half the player he was in early season games. Last night he had a chance to run at a defender and push the ball past him, earlier in the season he would have done it and succeeded. Last night he didn't even try. Maybe not fully fit?? Both him and damour are not showing any form near that of early season.

The league catching up with him and injury I think.

He was injured for some of those 19 games - and not back up to speed for a few more.

However he has lost something that made him very dangerous at the start of the season. He is also trying too hard at times and trying to force things when he would be better getting his head up and keeping possession or playing a simple pass.

He is only allowed to score goals in August! He was woeful against Preston. Earlier in the season he would push the ball past the defender and sprint past them , now he same afraid to take them on and has started to cut inside and lay of a simple pass. Along with Holiett's dip in form the striker suddenly has no support at all.

It’s the last 19 games he played in, so not injured
