Thread: Just got back.....

    Just got back.....

A much improved performance today and a good effort that on a different day could have provided at least a point if not all three.

That said, weak defending for the two goals (especially the first) and losing from a winning position against very modest opposition is extremely disappointing.

I know that everyone will blame the ref for the disallowed goal but that is missing the point.

Consider this instead: we dominated the first half during which I lost count of the long throws that we had into the box all of which came to nothing. QPR then scored their first goal from a header directly from what must have been their second long throw, and then looked far more likely to score than we did. And then they did from which we could not recover.

So disappointing but at least an improved performance. All of the changes made by Colin worked (Healy, Peltier in midfield) other than Connolly who didn’t look particularly comfortable and Murphy looked a bit jittery with the ball at his feet at times.

Good post apart from when you call our manager a wanker

I wish our so called fans would stop calling him this.

Does it matter? I call my mates wankers on a daily basis

From what Nathan Blake and Jason Perry were saying, Peltier looked lost in midfield. Our manager does like his workhorses with varying degrees of passing ineptitude in central midfield

Who else was fit enough to play there?

To be fair to Peltier he was asked to do a marking job and stifle the QPR midfield and did a reasonable job. Obviously he lacked creativity when were going forward. The game was beginning to stretch before he departed but their central midfielders certainly had more joy and space after he went off.

    Agree with that.

Stop being so precious. Warnock is perfectly aware that he is a wanker and would probably be first to admit he is.

Yeah. He came on for Peltier and the game seemed to open up much more after that.

(In the first half QPR rarely threatened and when they did it was at the very end of the half. Contrast that to the second half when it felt like they would score with every attack!)

Peltier in midfield is criminal in my opinion.
He's the poorest ball player we've had since Ben Turner and Kev Mcnaughton yet he's in the middle of our midfield.

At this moment in time I think it's fair to say that Warnock made the wrong decision in shunning Joe Ledley who though he may be passed his best would certainly be a far better option than Peltier in midfield and given the fact that only Gunnarsson and Bryson are injured in that area it shows how threadbare we are as a midfield.

Agreed with your sentiments here. The point I tried to make earlier on was that all of our specialist central midfielders are much of a muchness when it comes to passing the ball - some are better than others, but I don't see anyone resembling a midfield "playmaker" among them.

Totally agree when Pelts went off they had more time and room.He is a wholehearted player who is not great creating things but my god does he he make up for it with the effort he puts in defensively.Horses for courses I say and Warnock should be praised for picking him there.

How do we know that Warnock shunned Ledley? he may have priced himself out of our wages range.

Pelts in midfield smacks of desperation

It was desperate but the whole lineup stunk of desperation but what more could he do in the circumstances? Leaving Halford and Feeney out was the correct decision as neither is good enough.

My God, am I grateful that he may have been “shunned”. Certainly not a playmaker by any stretch of the imagination, and only capable of passing sideways or backwards.

Mother and father if all retrograde steps in my estimation.

    Tomlin isn't a midfield player.

Well he certainly isn't a striker, nor a defender, nor a winger so I am at a loss as to what he is then? Attacking midfield player? Number 10? Either way he plays in midfield so I'm not sure what else he can be classified as.

I'm not trying to be argumentative; I just don't know where else he is supposed to play other than midfield (he isn't a Joe Ralls, I understand that)
