    The pitch is looking worn

Did you notice our pitch looks poor in places yesterday.I would expect better considering have all the modern gear to help grass grow and do not share with other sports eg rugby

I said exactly that to my friends in the Ninian yesterday.

Maybe the shade cast by the Red Elephant Stand creates problems.

    Looked terrible.
How WILL Bristol's silky footballers and Wolvsalona cope when they come here in a few weeks.

Bristol City will hump it down the middle and play it behind the full backs into the channels as quickly as possible.

Well it has crossed my mind that it is a deliberate act on our part to stop tippy tappy teams.NW is quite capable of ploys like this.

It has deteriorated quite suddenly mind. It was only a few weeks ago I commented on how 'lush' it was looking for the time of season.

Maybe our Neil has given the instruction to neglect it, after all.

    Can't see it myself.
    My post was a joke.

We've got the likes of Birmingham, Burton and Bolton to come as well.

It certainly doesn't help the likes of NML and Hoillet

I was half joking myself but this is not a parks pitch and work needs doing on urgently imo

I noticed exactly the same thing. Desso Grassmaster. I thought it would last a bit better than that.

Are Bristols and Swansea's ropy then ?

Swansea even have to share theirs with the egg.

    Bristol City do too

Neither looked anywhere near as bad as ours when I last saw them on TV

Did you see them against spurs? I know it was raining but the pitch looked terrible, the wurzels must have some good groundsmen to keep that pitch the way it is but I do think we could have different weather to them but would give the groundsmen the nod

It's a mere 25 miles between Cardiff and Bristol. I'd wager that the weather we get and the weather they get is not THAT much different, surely?

Bristol city’s groundsmen have an advantage over ours as they play most of their football in the air not on the grass

The Liberty and Ashton Gate benefit from a grass 'weave' - a more durable surface than normal.

Can take the rigours of scrummaging leaving a decent surface.

So we don't have grass weave technology then? If not, it begs the question ... why not?

I would imagine that the cost is prohibitive especially if the pitch is only going to be used every other week on average.

Would be interesting to see if most PL pitches are 100% natural or like Swansea's 'weave'.

Perhaps managers prefer the 100% grass if they suspect that any artificial mix may cause problems.

I hope its like a ploughed field when we play man city. 'Ankle ligament damage'

Also, do Bristol have the level of technology we have available? We have a brand new stadium, new pitch, modern surface with undersoil heating etc.
