    Wonderful on the radio in his later years. Intelligence, knowledge and a warm personality. He will be missed.

    A very good full back and a gentleman. Blackpool in the 1950s and to some extent in the 1960s were a big club. There was something about that tangerine shirt that made them seem special.

    Great man, also churchgoer.

    I vividly recall his Trotters side gaining a worthy draw in FA Cup replay at the Old Lady in v early 70s. Predictably finished us off in second replay at neutral venue. Byrom was playing, but their goal scored by Gary Jones.
