People of Wales have not been listened to?
I think youll find the people of Wales voted to leave
Exactly and while they are at it why don't they take the first minister with them and leave him over there, another one who said he is going to draw up his own brexit rules, as if he has any say in it, shows how dull he is that he thinks he has
It's absolute bliss not knowing what is going on in terms of brexit since I have deactivated both Facebook and Twitter accounts. I don't have experts that specialise in pouring pints or laying bricks tell me as a matter of fact what is going to happen.
Most certainly is a jolly, and the v worst sort- a Boyo jolly😋. Taffia still deluded and in denial after all this time. Dopy Mfanwy still doesn’t understand difference between membership of, and access to SM and CU.
You couldn’t make it up, could you😋😋😋😋
Read the article again - they are not suggesting we should remain in the EU. They are saying that having a common Customs Union and access to the Free Market should be something we would want to retain if possible. Who wouldn't want that if the price was not too high?
Otherwise you are going to see a significant increase in the price of goods we import as we then have to pay higher taxes to get them. Our products and services will also cost more to sell to the EU as the same taxes would be imposed on sales too. This makes less competitive. Alternatively we could all agree that paying more taxes to the EU is a great idea.
Do you honestly think that wales can get access to the free market when it looks very much that the rest of the country will not, the assembly are really idiots living in cloud cuckoo land!
I agree it looks unlikely so do you think they should just not bother at all, or do you think it useful that Wales makes it voice heard in Brussels about the wishes of this region? No London-centric Government (of any colour) has shown any sign of fully integrating Wales needs into its thinking in the past so I'm not expecting us to be a major consideration again when they set up the post Brexit power structures.
I want the Welsh AM's to get in the faces of the people making the deals so we are not forgotten, and I certainly don't consider a trip to Brussels to be a Jolly in any sense of the word. I can't think of many more uninteresting places to visit really...
Good to see the numbers you are quoting above - not sure where they come from but happy to accept they have a decent source.
The problem is this all assumes business as usual in everything else and neglects the bargaining power the EU has in bulk buying its goods from abroad. We won't have that and I'd be frankly amazed if we were able to get anywhere near the deals we'd have got as part of the EU, but happy if we do.
I'm expecting the financial services passporting costs to get remarkably close to the wiping out the tariff differences the EU will pay in selling things to us if not actually cost us more. I can see no deal we can strike with the EU which does not cost us significant sums of money overall.
Not quite right. Unless Drunker et al give us a free trade deal, we would go onto WTO rules. We would then trade with EU bloc as Third Country as we do with rest of World. These do make many products more expensive, but WTO rules tariffs higher for cars and other manufactured goods as you imply.
Any deal involving “access” to SM and CU would effectively mean regulation, continued budget contributions and free movement 😡. Taffia with more intellect than Mfanwy (not difficult) realise this, so being utterly disingenuous.
So what about the 40odd percent of goods that we do import? That's not an insignificant amount. Are you going to lie to me and say we can get all that cheaper if we buy elsewhere?
Interestingly, Wales is one of the most reliant parts of the UK in terms of exporting to the EU, so any hard Brexit, no deal scenario is going to hit Wales hardest.
