Thread: Winter Olympics

    Winter Olympics

    Anybody interested at all?
I watched a bit on the news but it leaves me, ahem... cold.

There was a time when this was compulsive viewing, especially the skiing.
The downhill produced some of the most famous names in sport, Franz Klammer, Zurbriggan, Konrad Bartelski (biggrin).
Ingemar Stenmark in the slalom wasn't beaten for about twenty years!

Probably a result of the number of tv stations and the amount of sport / general entertainment available nowadays.

Na, when I found out they didn't have "Snowball Fighting", I gave it a miss.

Every time I've popped my head in my old girl has had the figure skating on. She's propped into it.

I remember my old man when I was a nipper would watch it every day after work and have it on all weekend...saying that he would have ski Sunday on too..
Them was the days when sport would always be on the box though..he would watch literally anything if it was called sport..

I watch the Ice Hockey. (Men's). The rest I just flick through. Britain are pretty crap in fairness at most winter sports. The odd success. Nigeria have a bobsleigh team this year.

    Seriously?
Next thing you know, they'll be making a film of this.
Strange how one would want to get into such a sport with such an obvious disadvantage to others.

Seems a sensible idea if you want to become an Olympian though.

You don't have to be that good to make the team.

Not enough sitting down sports - apart from bobsleigh.

    True enough.
Eddie Edwards an example. Must've made a few Bob and not from his ski jumping prowess.

American born I think. Eritrea also have an athlete competing. It was him and 2 back up staff in the opening ceremony. Some others you might not expect either.

The Nigerians I mean not old Eddie. He's as English as fish n chips of course. A zany underdog.

Kim Jong Un's sister looks very welcoming, and all of a sudden the US media seems to love North Korea!

I still absolutely love Eddie's story, and thought the film was really enjoyable,

In terms of watching, I will watch all the Mens and Womens snowboarding events, as a snowboarder myself I find it very good to watch, Snowboard cross is one of my favourite events in world sport.

I was expecting someone completely stern looking. Mike Pence was doing his best not to look at her. 1-0 to Kim that day.
