There is a lot of good music being made today, unfortunately our standing on the global stage has slipped somewhat.

Exactly you usually like the music you grew up listening too.

Also people have different tastes in music always seems a bit stupid to write someone off because you’ve never heard of them.

I’m pretty out of touch but I’ve heard of stormzy.

Don't feel bad about it though. Happens to everyone.
The UK was once a global music force punching well above our weight, while now we seem to be a bit punch-drunk.

I quite like Stormzy. He’s one of the few current artists I can say i listen to. Not as religiously as Oasis/ Charlatans/ Monday’s/Roses.etc but I can see why the kids like him

My alltime favourite album was released when I was 18. I expect that ballpark is the case for most people.

I could recognise both Stormzy and Dua Lipa by sight. Not bad for an old dude.

Fair enough, I'd certainly give the Brit awards a miss to do that

If you look at the top ten selling albums in the USA in 2017 and take away the compilations and soundtracks you have 3 British artists in the top 10 (Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Harry Styles). That doesnt seem to bad.

Its always been a pattern of the brits to not give awards to its established acts, to promote the nearly there's, hence seeing Stormzy and Dua Lipa a push. I was a little disappointed to see Gorrillaz win the best group because i felt there were a couple of groups in that category that could have done with a push.

You should always reach a point n life where you say the brits are rubbish i've never heard of these lot. I reached that point many a year ago.

Yep. Was around 18 when Oasis released Defintley Maybe, and 20 when The Verve released Urban Hymns. I’ll go 6 months without listening to Urban Hymns then I’ll play it, can’t stop playing it, and pretend I’m 20 again for a week or so. Best album ever bar none for me. Not a bad track on it.

UK youth culture is doing everything possible to be a pound shop america now.

Angry RnB all over our radio stations

Then you've got namby pamby nothingness filling in the rest.

Youth culture died in early 2000's and 90's I think, before youtube & social media tooks it hold.

Now you've Lil Pump making millions from this trash. God help the youth of today if they're watching this in their early teens. Currently on just the 550 million views.

I wondered when I was a teenager how it was possible the youth of the future could be any more stupid than my own MTV generation. Turns out it was pretty easy. All face tattoos and "Xans".

Spoken as a true youth of pre 2000

We can all post shite from our own generation to be fair.

Spice Girls and Wiggy we’re out at the same time as Oasis and Blur!

Re: Well done Stormzy and Dua Lipa

Every generation has a load of shite, then grow up and look back with rose tinted specs and only ever mention the good bands when they were growing up.

Dafney and Celeste were around the same time as Oasis etc.

Now is probably the best time for music because of how accessible it is but people put on radio one or two and say that’s shit and turn it off. If you use Spotify and listen to music you like it puts together a new music playlist of other bands you might like, there is plenty of great music being made.

Oh, yes! I suppose things were pretty marvellous in ‘the good old days’. Four year old kiddies digging coal! Three year old kiddies [pauses] er, digging coal as well as the four year old kiddies. I suppose you think that was the limit, don’t you? Well Ive got news for you. I think old people are really boring. And the only reason you don’t understand our music is because you don’t like it!

The record labels must be paying Russian server farms to bump the shit out of these videos

    Brilliant

Rik Mayall. One of my hero’s. They don’t make em like they used to. Ooops. Just kidding,

I’m not really. Rik Mayall was unbelievably funny, in a generation that could get away with being a bit riskier.

This is a good example of modern pop music, and I'm afraid our lot are miles behind.
