Neil Warnock's drastic starting line up change ends in a 1 - 0 win for Cardiff City

An hour before kick off the Cardiff City line up to face Bristol City was announced and it raised a few eyebrows. Warnock made five changes to the side that started the win at Ipswich in midweek.

Out went Grujic, Zohore, Mendez-Laing, Morrison and Damour and in came Bennett, Halford, Paterson, Feeney and Madine. Morrison was obviously injured, Medez-Laing missed out completely today but Grujic, Damour and Zohoe were all on the bench.

But the changes made were spot on. Warnock looked to have added some extra muscle into the side to copy with a very aggressive and 'agricultural' Bristol City who looked to unsettle Cardiff. Neither side produced flowing football and there was a lot of head tennis during a first half that Cardiff had the better of and managed several half chances compared to zero efforts from the visitors.

At half time Zohore came on for Madine and as the game became a little stretched Zohore became involved and found himself in the right place, six yards out from goal when Joe Ralls' 82nd minute cross deflected into his path. Zohore hammered it home and apart from one scramble in the Cardiff box the Bluebirds saw out the game and claimed three well battled for points.

So that's four wins on the bounce, all without conceeding, and it means City have closed the gap on leaders Wolves to just 6 points. 12 days ago that gap was 16 points.

Next up City face a tricky looking trip to Brentford before back to back home games against teams fighting relegation, Barnsley and Birmingham.
