It's not outrage. You are well versed in Sludges MO. Anything public sector = good. Anything private sector = bad.

There are a lot of people out there doing a great job, across a wide variety of disciplines.

I've not mentioned the self employed. But good for them. I imagine there were a few others in there too.

I take it those who work in the service sector such as pubs, aren't actually providing the public with a service, according to some.

So what are the results if you look at public pay increases over the last 10 years?

Stop being a prick and trying to bash public sector workers as you are fond of doing.

And the OP didn't mention gas fitters and people working at evil corporations.

    ????

It wasn't me who started with the selective period. There was a reason 8 years was mentioned initially. Likewise there was a reason I referred to 21 years. Since one period has seen a contraction in real terms and the other period an expansion, how do we know if public sector pay has been expanding or contracting?

I've not actually said anything about public sector workers. I was questioning the selective use of stats.

Exactly. You've made my point for me. On nights like this they are equally as important

The likes of the Police and ambulance service and NHS may well be dealing with fatalities tonight but hopefully more then that keeping people safe.

You’ve turned it Into some outraged Daily Mail reader rant and bringing in politics about pay rises.

Have a word with yourself, you sound ridiculous

Not at all pal, it’s true trust I’m an ex cop with 14 years service but I’m now in the private sector earning more then what I did for an easier job in regards to my health and welfare.

I’m not one is good and one is bad, I’ve worked with hard workers on both sectors.

So before you go getting pissy I wasn’t as you can see slagging one out very the other.

    Unlike you and your strop.

Ive done no such thing. All i asked was why such jobs werent mentioned - it's as if they aren't important.

I've tried really hard to work out what you are trying to say with your penultimate paragraph but I just cant. I take it they didn't have a written exam at Hendon.

You want have it both ways .

On one hand you are saying those who make it in to cover shifts are angels (presumbly to cover those who can't make it in), whereas those who stay at home (because they are salaried and don't need to get in) don't have the same obligation.

It surely follows that the public sector workers who cannot get in, and thus needs his shift covered, is in the same boat as the other stay at home salaried workers.

There will be plenty of workers from both sectors doing their normal jobs tomorrow.

Phone screen broken so hence my typos.

My point being is that the OP started a thread saluting the ordinary people in the public sector doing their job tonight in adverse weather the like of which is rarely seen here.

You throughout have interjected with ‘what about this, what about that and then accused me of saying public sector all good private sector all bad. Which was ironic nonsense on your part as you’ve constantly expressed faux outrage.

Extremely childish and most others on here I’d say think you’re looking a bit silly.

Its not faux outrage, youre well aware of sludge's stance.

The UK comes to a standstill whenever we have a little bit of snow. It makes you wonder how Canada, Norway and Switzerland all manage. They just get on with it, why can't we? I've been out in it several times today and tonight. If you drive for the conditions you will be alright.

Save your admiration for those volunteers who exchange their time and labour for no monetary gain.
As usual you are right Organ. I was careful to omit the determiner in that sentence.

I needed help last night, but I didn't see any of the selfless angels mentioned on this thread. It was nearly midnight and my internet connection had gone. I like to watch a bit of lesbian porn before I go to sleep. It relaxes me and helps me get to sleep. I rang up Virgin but I just got some silly Indian asking me about lights on my modem. "You can stuff all that bollux", I said. "Just send a repairman around pronto." And then I slammed the phone down and waited for the Virgin van. We had a lot of snow but I thought he'd be able to make it up the hill with snow chains. After half an hour he hadn't turned up so I was going to give Virgin another bollocking on the blower when remembered I'd unplugged the modem to do a bit of hoovering. Do you know what? I thought I'd test Virgin anyway to see how long they would take to come. They never turned up. Disgusting I call it.

We aren't geared up for it. If we want those extra services on tap we need to pay more in tax.

I struggled dragging my drunken father home through the snow from the pub tonight, and two seperate men saw me struggling and helped along the way, and that made a huge difference. There are still good people about!

I posted a because I thought this was completely the wrong type of thread for him to carry on his boring, decade or more long, campaign against the public sector and the people who work in it.
