Thread: Regional egg chasing no longer on BBC/S4C

Regional egg chasing no longer on BBC/S4C

Premier Sports have picked up the rights. Good. Now they know what it's like to be a football fan, never on terrestrial TV for a live league game and having to go or depend on the radio. Finally BBC Wales can stop funding Welsh rugby as handsomely as they have for decades.

There’s a lot of decent punters who like and look forward to these games who can’t afford subscription tv.

I know it’s fashiionabke on here to knock rugby but shame on the Pro 14 league, greedy bastards.

Maybe they could get of the sofa and go and support the clubs locally ,it's not a huge entrance fee, they spent 100's on the autumn and six nation games.

There’s a load of sports that people enjoy but can’t watch as it’s on pay per view TV. Rugby has been over funded in reality.

On the plus side for rugby it might force people to go and watch the game in person.

Perhaps the BBC Wales/S4C could make a deal to broadcast live Principality Premiership matches instead.

    nah

regional rugby is crap whereas international rugby is brilliant.

If cardiff and swansea were in a league as utter SHITE as the pro 14 then lets see if youd go to games.

And as many rebrands as the regions.

If its moved to pay per view its to get more money than the current funding model. So on that basis how can you say it was over funded by the bbc.

It's not cheap to go to Ireland or Scotland

We aren't all motivated by the standard of the opposition

Apparently they've had the rights to them for years

How much were the BBC paying for the rights? When you say "regional" rugby, is it purely the rights to Welsh regional rugby? If so, and considering the paltry viewing figures whilst free-to-air, this is hardly going to make Premier Sports a big player. But, looking at the rights they have won in the past, they appear to be a bit of a small fish.

Bowls, National Conference, Gaelic Football, League of Ireland. And now, Regional rugby.

Unlikely though. Crowds are rarely boosted by being moved from free-to-air tv stations.

Premier Sports is £10 a month, and it struggles to justify the fee.

Don't worry, they've all got PPV so they can watch Liverpool when there's no rugby on.
