    Derby's injury crisis

As we seem to be coming out of the worst, it seems Derby are still in the middle of theirs.

Rowett's pre-match press conference this morning is encouraging:

    Rowett on injuries

GR: We’ve got a couple more on the treatment table, unfortunately.

We’ve got 10 senior players training this morning. It’s quite a ridiculous scenario.

If we had some under-23s on the bench at Forest, we might have some under-16s on the bench this weekend!

    'The positive sign is...'

GR: We’re just trying to get through this last game before the international break.

The positive sign is we’d hope nearly everyone will have a chance of making the first game after the break.

We want to get this game out the way, and be as competitive as we can.

Rowett on Ledley and Lawrence being called up to Wales squad

GR: The medical staff at Derby County will speak to the medical staff at Wales.

It’s Ryan Giggs’ first squad, so he will be keen to get everyone in the squad.

But the reality is it is a ‘friendly’ tournament.

Will Ledley and Lawrence be fit for Wales?

GR: Joe Ledley won’t be fit, so I’d be very surprised if he travelled.

Tom Lawrence is nursing a back problem, so I don’t think he would benefit massively from the 12-hour flight to China, or whatever it is.

It’s out of my hands but I would hope common sense prevails.

We’ll offer our advice and see what they do.

Will Matej Vydra be fit to face Cardiff?

GR: Vyds is progressing OK but whether he will make it for this weekend’s game is a different matter. He’s one that we’re monitoring.

    Encouraging.

Side note and not intended to take the topic off track... but his comments about it only being a friendly tournament made me giggle..not just SAF that stops the Welsh lads travelling for friendlies Then!

What managers say in their post match press conferences and reality are often two different things. Personally I think they will have a few back and their squad is more than big enough to cope regardless.

Warnock is a master of this kind of kidology.
GR trying to find a way of getting into our heads

Absolutely. Warnock is the master of playing the media game and GR is no doubt playing the same game. I obviously meant pre match press conference not post match.

Bet Vydra plays if there is even half a chance.
