Thread: Is gritting the roads a thing of the past?

Is gritting the roads a thing of the past?

Probably got this wrong, but during the last snow they didn't grit because it was too cold and there was no point.

The information then about roads being usable was based on the time of the thaw.

No gritting done today on a local road which is a bus route.

The problem is that gritting the roads does nothing during snow, only ice.

I see them on main roads only ie western avenue or a48 ,a470 ,think its a gesture of gritting , and if folk cant get into work we are where we are.

Gritting only works if there's traffic to grind it - if the roads are quiet, as likely to be overnight on a weekend, it's pretty pointless.

They'll grit the bus routes in the morning, but only if the snow isn't falling
