    Re: Jay Bothroyd

The owner of my local pub in Tokyo tried to get him for an evening Q+A. Still hoping he can make it down someday.

I didn't know he was epileptic.

It mentions a seizure he had in a training session last year. I wonder what effect it had on his playing career - whether low sun or heading the ball were risk factors?

One of my all time favourite city players 👌

Loved Jay but he was lazy.
It was great when Bellamy got him chasing down defenders.
I noticed he'd stopped doing that when he went to QPR in the Premier.

I've watched the City over many years ( too many to recall ) and I think he would be in my top 5 of naturally gifted and skillful players ( not hard working ) just natural skill , balance , tricky and superb goals , you sometimes get for a player ,doesn't stay long ,but brilliant when it occurs .

Players like Tony Currie , Le Tissier , Frank Worthington , Peter Knowles , Rodney Marsh ,Stan Bowles , had a swagger and magic to their game ,all a bit edgy , Jay was our watered down version of that .

I never forgive England capping him , his head went after that

great player for us at times, gifted and knew his job, BUT after the England cap it all went wrong

Never forget the 50 / 50 challenge in the play-off game ( was it reading ) and he completely bottled it, I was fuming at the time, and to be fair, time hasnt healed that one
