I'm not sure on Sampaoli. Leaving Dybala and Icardi at home for one is strange and daft in my opinion. Even if you can't get them to play that well with Messi, the unthinkable might happen and he might get injured. It's a poor side though, he's got very few defenders and midfielders, and if they did win the World Cup, it would be comparable to 1986.

Not even Messi could turnaround a 6-1 defeat to the Spanish.

Spain to lift the World Cup?

That was with Ronaldo playing and they weren't playing Spain!

Does that make Ronaldo a bad player though? Where are we going with this!

Icardi isn’t liked after the stealing Lopes’ wife

I know youre a big fan mate but looking at the two teams last night theres not a chance Messi will be able to repeat Diegos feat in 86.

The gap is just too wide now.

I can see him dragging them through their group but woe betide them should they face Spain again or Germany and the like.

I agree mate. I don't think it will ever be possible to repeat Maradona's acheivement in 86 but if they have any chance of doing anything they need to replace Sampaoli today.
Brazil and France have decent squads and you can never look past Germany but surely you'd be a fool to get against Spain.

I enjoyed it but I'd enjoy a cartoon about Messi!
I think it could have been done better but there's some interesting insights.

It's basically his peers, his family and people like Cruyff gathered in a restaurant talking about him and there is a little bit of his childhood being acted out in a docufilm style showing how important his grandma was to his success etc.

There's a new Maradona documentary coming out soon by the guy who did the Amy Winehouse and Senna films.

He's too good. 93 in 149 for Inter can't be ignored. Messi shouldn't be allowed to dictate who's in the squad.

I think it’s Sampaoli who’s said he doesn’t want to pick him.

indeed, dont think he would had made an impact ,allegedly he is now taking this easy to prolong his club career anyway ( aka Giggs) dont think CR76 has the same attitude , in fact he's 3 years older and still doing it to for club and country and one of the fittest players in Spain

That 86 Argentina side was quality. Just so happens, they had a player who was head and shoulders above everyone, but that Argentina side was full of great players. I've always thought of it as a bit of a myth, to say maradona won that world cup. Yeah, he was the best player of the tournament, but that team was still loaded with top players
