Just done the same. They said the £5 was for a new card. I used my City Cash to reduce the pain a bit. You can only use this in person at the ticket office or over the phone...Originally Posted by insider

This is correct as I did the same last weekend.
Renewed for me and my son and paid by credit card. There are no card fees and the extra £5 per person is for a new membership card which they said would be sent out in July.
Everybody is having new cards this season apparently. The £5 is for that and postage.
