I can easily understand that the parents want to try anything while they still have the chance but it seems far better for him to face the inevitable at home and surrounded by his family, the poor little guy.
that is how i understood it, I just didnt know if i had missed something

I am sure every parent on here will agree, you would do anything for that slim slim chance of a miracle, even if it comes from the pope himself

    a sad story indeed

It’s ironic isn’t it that the Pope can’t do anything?
Would a real God let this happen to an innocent child?

    Ah yes, the Pope.

Whilst they'd pass his test for not using contraceptives, maybe his prayers for their sons "miracle" weren't helped by their conceiving whilst not being married.

These gods are fickle after all.

If that's how you understood it, why did you ask "what harm can it do"?

As much as I feel for the parents, at some point they've got to realise that, if you trust these doctors to treat your child within the limits of the knowledge and science at the time, then you've also got to respect their decision when they say that nothing else can be done. Emotions and self interest often get in the way of the best interests if the child at times like this.
As sad as it all is, this is very true.
