Thread: Do you still buy music magazines ?

Do you still buy music magazines ?

In the old days for me it was sounds and nme and melody maker

Then along came kerrang , metal hammer , Q , rock sound etc

Today it's just kerrang and metal hammer I buy , I used to get home because I don't like student indie bands but occasionally they would introduce me to stuff like mogwai who wouldn't generally be in kerrang

Do people tend to get their music fix online nowadays ?

I like classic rock , zep , cream , Sabbath , UFO , purple , rainbow , they cover it all plus blues and folk

It's pricey buying all these mags but I don't drink so I feel it's worth it

All this "look at me, I'm heavy metal ( like Jurgen Klopp )" and in reality, you're just a Marillion fan...

I just used to buy the ones that had free CD's on. I remember buying some hardcore dance techno magazine once because of the promise of 15 tracks of bliss. Utter garbage. I guess we're spoilt for choice nowadays with the internet and unlimited internet radio channels.

Have you read Billy Idol's autobiography Sludge? It does read a bit like your writing style.

I don't see the point these days, you can get any music online and listen yourself without having to buy an album or single first.

    And most don't bother buying.

Sadly, technology has advanced to the level most are parasites; artists create, people just take.

I haven't bought one for years. Used to read Sounds, NME, Melody Maker and after I moved to the US, Spin and CMJ. I've looked at NME.com recently and it seems like a kids magazine. I would possibly buy Rolling Stone, Q or Mojo if I was traveling. But probably not. I just read music blogs these days.

    Fecking shame innit

Rock sound used to cover metal , indie , punk etc , now it's like smash hits

And kerrang is like smash hits for metalheads

I should start a music magazine myself , I could rule the world

I remember the music mags telling us what to buy, they'd give something 4-stars and when you actually listened to it, you found out it was shite
