Picked up latest copy of mojo today , had an article on how rock became heavy in 1968 so bagged that

Q had manics on the front so no way was I buying that

Never liked Q , too much films etc , that's why I liked sounds , just music

Think you might be mistaking Q for another mag. It’s 100% music. I think it’s an extension of the NME

Sounds used to be more heavy rock and NME punk and indie as I remember which from what I read is why you prefer Sounds. I’m the complete opposite - hate all those guitar solos and screaming high pitched vocals

Sabbath , the ultimate metal band , had very few guitar solos , they were riff driven

I don't like all that fret wank nonsense either
