Have either of those 2 played at new Wembley before?

I’m not sure we’d have sold out this time had we got there- I’d have happily given the final a miss and lots others I know have said the same. Done it 4 times and haven’t particularly enjoyed any of the trips.

It was issued as a single with this on the other side:

Amazing riff after the wonderfully wacky intro.

The play-offs are the greatest thing in club football (apart from the sheer innocence and beauty of the FA Cup). But, only if your club is not involved. I barely slept the season Cardiff played Stoke. I could barely speak for a week after the shock of losing that one. Same for the play-off against Bristol City - spent the entire second leg watching the clock and working out the percentage of the game remaining. Then, QPR, I hardly slept for two or three nights leading up to that game.

Bristol was a derby x100, QPR was a nightmare until the final whistle, Stoke I knew what was going to happen after Earnie missed the 1 on 1 up there, Blackpool...well.

Only playoff game I've been relaxed at was Northampton away...Sir Geoffs moment of madness and I spent the rest off the game laughing at the off field shenanigans.

So glad to give them a miss this time around

I vaguely remember Northampton, wasn't it over by the time it got to Cardiff (Eckhardt red card at Sixfields?)?

First leg was at ninian park. Lost 1-0 I think.

Ah, and then Cardiff had a battering at Northampton with some fans watching from outside the ground on one of the corner banks.

Eckhardt was sent off wasn't he?

Yeah we had a battering on the pitch.

Yeah there’s that big bank behind one of the goals overlooking the stand- I wasn’t there but stories of all sorts going on there during and after the game.

Yes, could see it clearly from the away end.

Villa made a cup final a few seasons ago, being thrashed up the Arsenal

Eric, how's about some stats for the final?

  19. #19

Re: Hey Fulham lads, How's your nerves?

I'll fill in until Eric gets his machine working

They've met 68 times over the years, incredibly even, 23 wins each, 22 draws.

This century they've met 30 times, Villa have won 11, Fulham 8 & 11 draws

They've never met on a neutral ground before.

If Earnie hadn't missed that one on one against Brizzle in the first leg, my nerves, and probably yours, would have been a lot better in the second leg. Like you, kept counting the minutes away. 90 minutes - the concept of eternity.
