Liverpool are now our DIRECT opponents.

Any extra cash etc. they get makes it harder for us to beat them, so wanting them to win is effectively wanting them to be more likely to beat City.

It's like wishing Fulham had an extra 10 million to spend last season.

Actually, it's probably better that they're stronger. The stronger they are, the less likely one of the bottom teams will grab a surprise win over them.

It's better for us if they beat everyone including us, rather than they beat everyone except one team (as odds suggest that one team is more likely to be not us than us).
