I'm sure she's telling the truth. And I'm equally sure that Kiro7 haven't altered it for effect.

Amazon reported 6 months ago that 20m units had been sold. Even if this story is true, and that there was no human error (unlikely) then it doesn't appear to be a widespread issue.

Probably/possibly, but we know that these systems do a lot more than just respond to requests, they also record entire conversations without your knowledge.

The fact is, the Snoopers Charter has made it possible for Government departments to collect your web browsing history anyhow. GCHQ has access to webcam chats. Apps on phones have access to your mic. The original story is a non story, imo, and acts as a distraction to the big data mining that people really should be concerned about.
