Is this a good idea? Will it solve the problem? Have your say on the matter ..

Wouldn't people just sharpen the point again?

Surely the real way of sorting this is addressing the vast inequality in society, stop cutting police funding esepcially in risk areas and provide greater education in deprived areas.

Either legalsing drugs to stop poor people being recruted as foot soldiers for drug gangs or harshly punishing anyone buying cocaine and funding a lot of this.

The concept of legalising drugs is fairly divisive however the statistics from American states where only cannabis has been legalised is compelling. Washington State: Violent crime down 10%, murder down 14%, $230M tax revenue, other drug related deaths down 6.5%.

Not only would we see reduced crime in the selling of drugs but also hard regulation on the quality of drugs sold preventing deaths such as at the Mutiny festival this weekend.

There is also the huge amount of tax revenue it would generate.

What effect does it have on the number of people using and being addicted to drugs?

There is obviously the issues of everyone being smacked off their tits 24/7.

In youths under the age of 21 there was an increased usage of 4.2% from 2006 (illegal) - 2015 (legalised).

An increase in traffic related incidents.

    Explosions in THC extraction labs.

Overall I think the effect on youths would be mixed as a dealer doesn't care about age but if Tesco were selling it off the shelf you'd be ID'd under 25. Also any underage possession in the US is still treated as possession of an illegal substance.

What an idiot ,the solution is to only allow plastic knives (recyclable of course)

Is it time for plastic nails, screws and bolts, so that we can ban metal hammers, screwdrivers and spanners? How about making the under 30's wear oversized boxing gloves in public, so there is less chance of them landing a killer blow? Trucks and vans have to go too.

I believe they use sharpened toothbrushes as a weopon in prison, so cleaning your teeth needs to be outlawed immediately.

In portugal they didn't legalise but decriminalised massively and it has had a positive effect:

Prohibition has been proven to basically not work because it leads to cartels. In London at the moment it's as easy to get coke and weed delivered as it is a pizza and with seemingly no reprucussions.

Maybe a bit extreme but in a restless region in China, all knives sold now are barcoded

Smoking it doesn't cause violence, trafficking it and turf wars caused by dealing cause violence. The stats show once it's been legalised violent crime is down.
