Really interesting. Lampard has lived on the Premier League gravy train for years. It's a decent club to start out at, does he know enough about life outside off the top 4?

Just seen his live press conference on SSN. Have to say he was very impressive throughout. Charismatic and no little humility he looks as much at ease in front of the media as his uncle Harry. His family is obviously steeped in football and he is definitely a student of the game. 18 months out of the game where he completed all his coaching badges he appears well up for it. He said he had watched a lot of Championship football through last season and knows what the league was all about. Although not announced his backroom staff are all sorted which will obviously be important to a novice manager. Hard job ahead especially with Derby's FFP implications but if this press conference was anything to go by I believe Lampard will ultimately be a success.

What experience does Lampard have? Sol Campbell may not be the most attractive option but certainly more qualified than Lampard.

    Desperate times in Derby.

Its not desperation at all you crackpot. Hes one of thr best players of his generation has his badges and is respected throughout the game. Apart from anything else his players will play the right way and pass it. That in itself is a little too much for many in our side

Well talk about taking safety in numbers eh?
We dont need the word great, ex players is enough or are you just willing only former top players to fail? But seeing as you as you ask both our succesful managers taking us into the prem were former players.

But both worked their way up.

Expect him sacked before the end of next season. Derby change managers more often than some people change their under crackers.
How they haven't been pulled up on ffp beats the shite out of me.

He’s probably forgotten more than you know.

This could go either way. He could be a genius, or just add likely a complete flop.

It will be interesting either way

I hope he makes a go of it.
Seems like he is a level headed sort and comes across well on tv.
A big gamble by Derby by backing a new manager with no experience but as others have said it could be very interesting.

Robert departs his favourite club which he wouldn't have done if feeling he could take them up, Derby certainly need to drastically budget cut and have hired a manager with no managerial experience and has spent a short time taking steps into a managerial role.

Bellamy might have being considered as Wales boss but has more experience and wasn't facing drastic budget cuts.
