Isn't it obvious that for decades successive governments incentivised becoming and remaining single parent families through the benefit system? The chosen 'career' path of armies of teenage girls who didn't fancy the idea of further education or the alternative, if they were lucky, of a soulless, poorly paid, dead end checkout job was to get knocked-up and continue to do so at regular intervals. Independence via free housing and an income to boot with no work requirement was and is an irresistible carrot.

That's where you are wrong They should be promoting Maths, English and Science, etc., and stop trying to brainwash the kids, but in this case they seem to be weakening the resolve of those who see merit in nuclear families.
