Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has told BBC Radio 5 live that his sister Lisa was "so, so unlucky" during her life.

Lisa died when she was 32 from a brain tumour.

Seven years earlier Lisa had been convicted of infanticide after the death of her baby - Lawrenson said the family eventually managed to get her conviction overturned.

"When I think of the life that I had... and what she went through - she was so unlucky" he said.

By all accounts, Lawro is a really decent bloke. He's also one of those rare pundits who had a stab at management - he wasn't doing too badly either and eventually lost his job because of a Maxwell stitch up.

Yes I like him as well ,quick witted as well , give the podcast a listen , how he didn't end up in deep depression is an achievement in itself.

I sympathise with him for what he went through with his sister but I still can't stand him as a pundit. He offers absolutely nothing apart from shitty little wise cracks.
I remember him commentating on Scotland once and Gus Poyet called him out about his lack of knowledge or research.

I also remember Lawrenson with a back spread exclusive saying that all these years I've played with Grobelaar and I can't believe he was cheat.

Tool of a man if you ask me.

    Lost his job?

He quit. Should he have been fired anyway? 4 wins in 25 matches indicates eh we're not talking Alex Ferguson here. Peterborough stint was at best average. Punditry is a far easier job, clearly.
