Who designed the classic bluebird badge and when?

Although the club registered it as a trade mark they may not have had permission to do so if the copyright belongs to a third party.

Wolves copied their badge design without permission. The original has now been found. Not sure whether they have paid off the designer as he has a good case for copyright infringement.

When was it first used? There were alternative bluebird images before and during the use of that particular (now iconic) image.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember a toffee factory on Sloper Road.

Your not wrong, there was a toffee factory on Sloper Road on the opposite side of the road to Ninian Park, a bit further down towards Grangetown.
