Woys was signed just after we sold Toshack, half way through the 70/1 season, he scored 13 in 18 League games. His only full season was 71/2 where again he scored 13 League goals. He went early in the 72/3 season for Ł25000 + Gil Reece and David Powell in part exchange....I think Sheffield United got the better of the deal. Even though I think he only played about 7 games for them before being sold to Bristol Rovers.

He was good when he came back, albeit not as lethal as he was but still quality. Scored 41 in 115 appearances.
63 in 159 in total for us including his first year, loved watching him play.

Who was that Irish fella, who scored the winner (as normal) at Wolves, the year that Poxy Moxy banned us. ?

Just came to me, was it Jason Byrne ????

PS:----this is a one game wonder

What a left foot, not seen a shot like his since at the club, superb, like an Exocet Missile a whole 20 years before the Exocet was invented!

One magnificent season. 22 goals from the left wing. Agree about his shooting. As you say, like a rocket.

I remember one goal v Luton I think. 40 yrds and the ball seemed to swerve past the goalie.
    What happened to him?

Left after the one season because of contract disagreements I believe.

Funnily enough, his predecessor on the left wing, Johnny Watkins, was also a Bristolian with a rocket shot.
Watkins played for Brizzle City, us, then Brizzle Rovers while Hooper played for Rovers, us, then City.
    Hooper passed away in 2011.

Think Derek Hogg from WBA may have been in between Watkins and Hooper.
